The Silver Knights’ award-winning game presentation team brings the energy to Lee’s Family Forum during every HSK game. On-ice projections, a cast of characters that includes mascot Lucky, Harold the Town Crier, and the Silver Knight, and a giant horseshoe that the team skates out of every game are just a few of the over-the-top elements that fans can expect on a nightly basis.
For Noche de LosHSK, Henderson’s celebration of Hispanic/Latino heritage, the team took things to the next level by placing a wrestling ring in the middle of the Sam & Ash Tiltyard entryway. Luchador wrestlers from Future Stars of Wrestling took to the ring for performances pregame and during both intermissions.
“Lucha Libre, like many of the other activations we include on the night, is just a fun way to show off the different subcultures that exist within ours– much like baile folklórico or lowrider car culture for that matter,” said Benjamin Thomas, Director of Latino Marketing and Outreach for the Vegas Golden Knights. “It’s also a great way to support and use our platform to introduce those groups to a wider fanbase. A fan who maybe grew up watching Lucha Libre AAA may find that nostalgic while non-Hispanic/Latino fans see it as a novelty but in both cases it’s something entertaining and cool that both can get excited about.”
Additionally, the team worked with a local car club to display customized lowriders on the Sam & Ash Tiltyard, had custom Noche de LosHSK graphics displayed throughout the concourse and on the Silver Screen, baile folklórico dancers performed pregame, specialty merch was available at the team store, and special food and beverage options were available for purchase.
“When launching LosVGK, we set out to grow the popularity and the accessibility of the sport throughout the Hispanic and Latino community throughout The Realm and that includes Henderson. We do a lot of work to make sure that we’re connecting with fans throughout the year but it’s still so important to have a dedicated night to represent and celebrate our culture,” said Thomas. “A night like Noche de LosHSK can go a long way in making fans in the community feel seen and feel welcome as the little things about our culture are on display for everyone to celebrate. Noche de LosHSK and Henderson games in general also have the added benefit of being a great value for fans who want to bring the whole family out.
“The key to making sure that Noche is as authentic and entertaining as possible is connecting with groups who work year-round on their passions and their crafts and we are fortunate enough to have people like that in our community. So a huge ‘Thank you!’ to all involved.”
