Forward Mathieu Cataford, 77th overall draft pick in 2023, has been assigned to Henderson by the Vegas Golden Knights. He joins the team in San Jose after three seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. Cataford finished the 2023-24 season with 90 points (40G, 50A) in 65 games, as well as two points (1G, 1A) in four playoff games. He was also named an alternate captain for his final season with Halifax.

“It’s been a lot of travel, but overall I think it’s just a lot of excitement. Just ready to go for tonight, hopefully it goes well,” he said after Wednesday’s morning skate.

Head Coach Ryan Craig plans to put Cataford on a line with Adam Cracknell and Ryan Dzingel, both veterans with more than 600 games of NHL experience combined.

“ He’s going to play tonight and make his debut for us tonight playing with Dzingel and Cracknell. Two veteran guys that can help him and coach him up a little bit on the bench,” Craig said earlier today. “He joined our team on Monday night…we’re going to try and put him in situations where he can succeed. Probably just focus on his 5v5 game and get a taste of [the professional game].”
