MORNING SKATE REPORT: APRIL 3, 2024

HENDERSON, N.V. – The Henderson Silver Knights will take on the third-place Ontario Reign in a single-game contest. Tonight’s game also marks the renaming of the Silver Knights’ home ice, now the Lee’s Family Forum. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. PT.

ON THE LOOKOUT

  • Rookie defenseman Christoffer Sedoff is expected to return to the ice in his first game since January 26. In his 39 games played, Sedoff tallied nine points (0G, 9A), including a two-point game against the Calgary Wranglers on December 3. “It’s exciting getting back to game action with the boys,” he said after morning skate. “It’s been a long time, but I’m happy to be back.”
  • Forward Patrick Guay, now in his second professional season, has been continuing to model his game after the team’s veteran players – including linemate Adam Cracknell. Cracknell stands fourth on the team in points and tied for second in goals, scoring 32 (18G, 14A) over 52 games with the Silver Knights this season.”He’s really smart,” said Guay on learning from his play after Wednesday’s morning skate. “He has a lot of poise with the puck, he doesn’t get rid of the puck for no reason. So it’s one of the things I try and do…I want to make the right play like he does.”
  • Head Coach Ryan Craig looks to improve the Silver Knights’ record against the Ontario Reign, which currently stands at 3-3-0. Both of Henderson’s most recent contests against them have been victories, a 3-0 win on December 31 and a 4-3 shootout win on February 9. “We’ve frustrated [Ontario],” Craig said. “They’re a highly skilled, offensive team, one that wants to get going off the rush. We’ve done a good job working over top of them and eliminating that, especially the last two games, which have led to victories for us.”

BEHIND ENEMY LINES

  • Forward T.J. Tynan leads the Ontario Reign in points and stands eighth in the AHL with 57 (9G, 48A) in 64 games. He has tallied eight points (2G, 8A) in the team’s last ten games and heads into tonight’s matchup with two points (1G, 1A) in back-to-back games. Tynan has also scored five points (1G, 4A) in six games against the Silver Knights this season, including three assists in their matchup on October 27.
  • The Ontario Reign will be without forward Akil Thomas in this mid-week matchup, as he was recalled to the LA Kings on March 31. Prior to his callup, Thomas had sustained a four-game point streak with the Reign. He scored seven points (5G, 2A) in that span, bolstering the Reign to five straight wins over the Tucson Roadrunners, Calgary Wranglers, San Jose Barracuda, and Bakersfield Condors.
  • Goaltender Erik Portillo (and former Michigan teammate of Henderson forward Brendan Brisson) remains Ontario’s lone qualified goaltender. He has played in 34 games for the Reign this season, averaging 2.34 goals against with a .924 save percentage. He holds a 20-10-3 record this season and is 0-1-1 against the Silver Knights.
