The Silver Knights fell to the Ontario Reign 5-4 in a shootout on Friday night at Toyota Arena in Ontario, CA.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
The Reign struck first when Koehn Ziemmer snuck one over the goal line on the power play at 6:30 in the opening period. Mitch McLain would be credited with a goal after an Erik Portillo clearing attempt was deflected off of Jakub Dvorak and into the net. In the final moments of the first, Jaycob Megna would score his third of the year, giving Henderson a 2-1 lead. 12 minutes into the second, Ontario’s Jacob Doty tied the game 2-2. Shortly after, Aatu Jamsen would give the Reign a 3-2 advantage. Early into the third, Sloan Stanick would tie the game with his second goal in as many games. Mitch McLain would get his second goal of the contest to put Henderson back on top 4-3. Soon after, Otto Salin would bring the game back to even at 4-4. Following a scoreless overtime period, Ontario’s Kenny Connors was the only skater to score in the shootout, earning a 5-4 victory for the Reign.

The Silver Knights will now return to Palm Desert, CA tomorrow, Saturday, January 10 for a rematch with the Coachella Valley Firebirds.
