The Henderson Silver Knights fell to the Ontario Reign in overtime, 5-4, on Wednesday evening at Lee’s Family Forum. Brendan Brisson (1G, 1A) and Grigori Denisenko (0G, 2A) both recorded two-point performances.
The Silver Knights opened the scoring at the 1:12 mark of the first period with a goal from Jake Bischoff. From the point, Bischoff one-timed the puck from the point, which then went post and in.Denisenko andBrisson picked up the assists.
Less than a minute later, Henderson took a 2-0 lead on a goal from Mason Geertsen. After a pass from Jett Jones, Geertsen wristed a shot past the goal line. Lukas Cormier also received an assist on the play.
Ontario cut the lead to 2-1 when Ontario winger Samuel Fagemo found the back of the net.
With just under two minutes before the first intermission, the Reign tied the game on a goal from Hayden Hodgson.
Ontario took a 3-2 lead on a power-play goal from winger Andre Lee.
Henderson registered a total of 11 shots in the second period, but none found the back of the net.
The Silver Knights evened the score at three on a goal from Brisson, his second point of the night. Brisson received a pass from Denisenko at the top of the faceoff circle, spun on a defender, and fired a wrist shot glove side. Kaedan Korczak also registered an assist on the goal.
The Reign took their second lead of the period on a goal from Colton Young.
The Silver Knights tied the game at four on a short-handed goal by Jonas Rondbjerg. After a Byron Froese pass sent Rondbjerg in on a breakaway, he shot the puck blocker side to even the score.
The game headed to overtime, where Fagemo secured a 5-4 win for Onatrio with his second goal of the game.
The Silver Knights are back in action Saturday, April 6, where they will take on the Colorado Eagles at Lee’s Family Forum. Puck drop is set for 1 p.m. PT.
