The Henderson Silver Knights defeated the Abbotsford Canucks, 6-3, Friday evening at Lee’s Family Forum.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
The Canucks opened up the scoring with a short-handed goal at the 10:25 mark of the period. The Silver Knights responded with a goal from Trevor Connelly later in the frame. Only 34 seconds later Abbotsford would take the lead back and make the score 2-1.
Henderson tied the game up on a power-play goal from Connelly, his second of the night. Henderson took their first lead of the game from a goal by Tanner Laczynski at 8:06. Laczynski put one in the back of the net off a pass from Ben Hemmerling right in front of the Canucks’ goalie. HSK built on their lead later in the frame. Connlley got his third of the night on a breakaway goal to complete the hat trick, the first of his career.
Mitch McLain earned his 11th of the season at the start of the third by wristing one in the top corner to make it 5-2. Mathieu Cataford found himself all alone in the slot and buried one past the Canucks goalie at 17:06. Later in the frame Abbotsford would cut into the lead but it wasn’t enough, as the Silver Knights would beat the Canucks 6-3.
